How to stop eating your feelings

I constantly get asked about how to avoid over eating when gathering with friends or at events, have you ever been worried about the same thing? You are human, so don’t feel like you need to bring boiled chicken and broccoli in a Tupperware container.

Here are 3 ways to avoid overeating:

1. Stay Hydrated

This is just a regular day so make sure that you are staying hydrated throughout the day, the more water you drink the more full and satiated you’ll feel. For all my office peeps, if you work in a office and find yourself not getting enough water or not having time to fill up a class of water every 1/2 hour, keep a litre size water bottle at your desk so that you can grab a swig when needed. If your bored at home and tend to be a snacker, drink 500 mL of water first and if you still need that snack then go for it, but at least you’ve done your body good.

2. Intermittent Fasting

If you have an overindulgent night coming up then try to make sure that you are getting all of your nutrients in throughout the day, eat like your normally would and save a few calories for that extravagant evening. Stop eating by 9 PM and continue to hydrate for the rest of the night.

3. Eat Slower

Sometime we get so excited to dive into that delicious meal that we forget to breathe while we eat, we continue to eat before we realize that were actually pretty full. Slow it down my friend and chew your food, ask your family about there day before going in for seconds.

I hope that eases your mind but please remember: BALANCE

Don’t beat yourself up when you have a day that you weren’t on your A game, just hop right back on that saddle and continue your fitness journey.
